Blockbuster to offer video downloads!

Surviving the sinking ship of video rental retail has proven a difficult task for stores like Hollywood Video and countless Mom ‘n Pop video shops, but Blockbuster hopes to buck the trend and stay afloat with a new instant access program.

The company’s online DVD rental service will now offer instant access to its video library through a variety of PCs, cell phones, portable media players, Internet-connected televisions, and Blu-ray disc players. Blockbuster hopes the move will help it keep pace with rival Netflix, which already provides web streaming videos to customers on certain plans.
