Sci FI Channel (SyFy, as of July 7) has ordered “Unfinished Business”, which is being called “a drama about an ex-cop who starts seeing flashes of memories from the recently deceased. The visions compel him to help wronged souls resolve their unfinished business.”
This 2-hour original show is being considered as a pilot for a series.
“Sci Fi is excited to begin development on ‘Unfinished Business’ with Overbrook Entertainment and Will Smith,” said Mark Stern, executive vp original programming at Sci Fi. “It is a compelling and thrilling drama that is perfect for our audience.”
The problem with this announcement is that it’s really, really hard to get excited about a new series at Sci-Fi. With the exception of Galactica, they have REALLY ruined almost every good series they’ve touched. This is a network that has the fewest episodes of Star Trek of any network on TV, and as we recall, only two of the movies. This is a network that is called The Sci-Fi Channel, yet has wrestling programming and STOPPED showing MST3K. The cool thing about this is that if SyFy can’t do it, there will be a cool series on NBC.
