The web series “Friends We Love” is by Moni Pineda, a Colombian-born, New York-based multimedia artist, and Mike Vargas, the founder and head hancho of Nuyorktricity, a multi-media familia comprised of motion pictures, music production and photography. The series began with a desire to document the inspiration, motivation and creative process of their talented friends in NYC and around the world. Artist Profiles quickly blossomed into four other shows:
“120 Seconds”, an open platform to share personal thoughts and passions.
“Off The Wall”, produced in partnership with The Jonathan Levine Gallery featuring interviews with exhibiting, contemporary artists.
“En Vivo” captures the essence of some live performances
“eMotion Pictures” serves as an experimental lab where we explore and capture moments through visual poetry.
This is one of our favorite web series to watch regularly, since not only do they talk to friends WE love, but they also introduce
us to new people and ideas! Make sure you check with them at friendswelove.com!
We’re really happy to present this interview, as film director Albert Xavier recounts how his artistic background prepared him for filmmaking and the development of his latest release, Hermafrodita, which is the first Dominican film to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival..
