20th Century Boys 3: Redemption tops box office for six weeks in Japan!

Today we visited our friend Issa Rae and found this under her WTF? post. We love this part of her blog and wanted to share this post with you!

I’m pretty intrigued by what films are killing the box office overseas. As a filmmaker and aspiring producer, it helps me gain some perspective about what’s marketable and what’s not. But talk about cultural BARRIERS. To me, a film like X-Men is appealing ALL across the board. But THIS film, the third installment in the 20th Century Boys series, a series that I can’t for the LIFE of me understand based on the trailer, currently has the Japanese Box Office on LOCK. See for yourself:

What the f*** was that? Whatever it was, it has an unbroken range of 6 weeks at the top of the Japanese Box Office. Looks like I have NOTHING to offer the Japanese markets.
