Shawn Levy is set to produce the children’s book, The Berestain Bears.
The Berestain Bears is a series of books whose subject matters deal with real life childhood issues, character building and education. The books are generally stage one readers and are usually part of building a child’s first library. The books creators Stan and Jan Berenstain were inspired to write children’s books as they were teaching their own children to read.
It was then adapted into a cartoon in 1972 with the premier of a Christmas special “The Berenstain Bears’ Christmas Tree.” It piloted in 1985, and today children nationwide still enjoy the family of Bears on PBS. They have franchised into video and online games for young children 5 and under.
I’m personally not sure about the box office on this one. I’m seeing the “Care Bears” movie and that makes me nervous. Books yes. Video Games for the young kids ok. Movie?????
