TRON LEGACY Preview

Previewing “Tron Legacy”, the long awaited sequel to the 1982 film “Tron” was definitely exciting. After viewing the 2+ minute coming attraction on the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 80 Foot screen In IMAX 3D – this was the only way to preview the upcoming film.

The graphics in the preview are a testament to the current cgi technology.

So far, Tron Legacy makes the original film look like a Saturday Morning cartoon. The preview is a series of montages, with images between the real world and the computer world. It opens with a voiceover from Bruce Boxleitner, whom you’ll remember from the original movie as Alan Bradley, explaining to Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the adult son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) being told that a phone call was received from his father’s old office phone, but that number has been disconnected for over 20 years. Cut to Sam at Flynn’s Arcade, closed for just as long. Cut to the computer world, electronic musicians, and new recognizers. Cut to Kevin Flynn walking up the ramp and entering into the glowing grid of the computer world.

And this is where you get mad and stay that way until next week. We can’t show you the trailer until (at least) then.

Everyone who attended the screening events got “Flynn Lives” T-Shirts. So when you see these around, that’s what’s going on.

Tron Legacy opens in 3D theaters and IMAX 3D on December 17, 2010. You can see the trailer for yourself in front of Alice in Wonderland starting on March 5.
