The Black Box Office is proud to present our first annual awards for excellence in interactive entertainment and journalism. It’s clear that in order to survive, multicultural cinema has to move in a new direction. Many are trying to figure out what that new direction IS. The really exciting part about this is that you already know the judges. They’re YOU! We’re taking votes from the people who matter – the audience! So whether you run a barbershop in Brooklyn, teach science in Seattle, own a nail salon in New Orleans, or rent DVDs in Dallas, this is your chance for your voice to be heard on the future direction of our business!
Every week, beginning on Monday, July 12, 2010, we’ll present you with the nominees. You’ll have from Monday to Sunday to vote. On August 23, 2010, we’ll start counting your votes!
On Friday, September 17, 2010, We’ll reveal the winners here. So while you’re going through our exclusive Urbanworld Film Festival coverage, you can see who won, see photos of the winners, and have that big argument about who should have won. Future big Oscar, Emmy, Pulitzer prize and Cannes winners will come from our nominees. You can say you knew them when!
