Jeremy Renner has beat out the top contenders, including Anthony Mackie, and been confirmed as the new star beside Tom Cruise in the Mission: Impossible series of movies. Just in time for them to possibly not be called the Mission: Impossible movies anymore. One of the ideas being discussed is a new title for Mission: Impossible 4 that doesn’t have “MI” in the title. We’ll see how that works out.
But what’s a little more interesting, we think, is the race heating up for the female lead in the movie. Deadline reports that Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang in “Smallville“), and we first learned from Punch Drunk Critics that Paula Patton (“Precious”) and Lauren German (“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)”) were among the top names being tossed around for the role.
